John-Paul

CTO

Meet John-Paul––we call him JP. JP is one of the co-founders of Uncut Lab. He is also the Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Little known fact (even many on the team don't know this)––JP is a serial entrepreneur. He brings over a decade of business development and design experience to the team. Additionally, he is a big proponent of the lean user experience (UX). Feel free to ask him about this when you chat with him. As you might have guessed, he likes to wax poetic about it. John-Paul completed his undergraduate education from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana, West Africa. At UCC, JP studied Information Technology (IT). Upon completion of his degree in 2010, he received a full scholarship to the prestigious Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology(MEST) in Accra, Ghana. At MEST, JP studied software entrepreneurship, business development, and management for two years. After completing his studies at MEST, JP and three of his classmates had the opportunity to pitch their first business idea. They were able to secure seed funding to start their first company. JP and his co-founders worked tirelessly to make the venture work. Sadly, the underlying model for the startup was not scalable so it failed. After his first company, JP left to work on his second venture which got him accepted into the Startup Chile Accelerator. Unfortunately, the company also failed and prompted JP to relocate to the United States. JP has over 5 years of experience working as a senior product designer and frontend developer due to his versatility. He has worked for large corporations such as the Berkshire Hathaway Group as a senior designer. JP’s skill set includes handling designs, prototyping, user testing, and research. JP thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. He is also an art lover and creator. During his free time, John-Paul loves to paint, create digital illustrations, and dabble in small carpentry projects.
